Horror Movies We're Looking Forward to in 2015
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension
March 13, 2015
The Paranormal Activity franchise helped to reinvigorate found
footage films in 2007. Since then a number of sequels have followed,
and while not every installment has won huge with viewers, a number of
these creep-outs have served to thrill viewers. Enter Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension,
the sixth film in the franchise. Gregory Plotkin will make his
directorial debut, and look to reinject major interest in a generally
successful franchise.
Insidious: Chapter 3
June 5, 2015
The Insidious pictures stole the hearts of fans immediately.
They're creepy, loaded with gloom and dreadful atmosphere and jam-packed
with shocking visuals. A third film was a no-brainer, and with Leigh
Whannell (a key player in the entire franchise) directing, it's probably
safe to anticipate one terrifying feature.
Poltergeist
July 24, 2015
Here's one of next year's greatest question marks. Can the Poltergeist remake hold a candle to the original pic? My gut says yes! Gil Kenan, who directed the gorgeously chilling Monster House
takes to the helm, and he's got some top notch performers to work with.
From Sam Rockwell to Rosemarie Dewitt to Jared Harris, it's almost
impossible to imagine this remake underwhelming on any level.
Goosebumps
August 7, 2015
Look for Goosebumps to be as much comedy as it is horror, but
look for it to tap nostalgic nerves around the globe as well. R.L.
Stine's series remains one of the most popular runs for the young, and
there's no reason to believe that infectious entertainment won't
transfer well to the big screen. This could be the film that sees Jack
Black return to top form.
Sinister 2
August 21, 2015
Sinister was a frightening film. Ciaron Foy will take over
directorial duties for this sequel, but that's not necessarily a bad
thing. The fact is, there's a great foundation to build upon here. Scott
Derrickson's inaugural franchise film was quite moving, and it should
be compelling to see the direction Foy takes this sequel.
Frankenstein
October 2, 2015
Daniel Radcliffe can't be stopped. He transitioned from the Harry Potter films to the surprisingly impressive adaptation of Joe Hill's amazing novel Horns, and now he's right back at it in the new Frankenstein
film. Radcliffe will portray Igor, and the majority of us are extremely
excited. This one doesn't look to be another Universal action-oriented
flick, but something a bit darker. It's a shame we'll be forced to wait
until next October to take this one in, but the wait could very well be
worth it!
The Last Wiitch Hunter
October 23, 2015
Vin Diesel will front Breck Eisner's new action/horror hybrid, The Last Witch Hunter.
Early imagery looks awesome, and Vin has a knack for taking the reigns
and outshining his cast mates. It won't be easy with talents like Elijah
Wood and Michael Caine on board, but it's possible. And even if Diesel
fails to emerge the star, he's got great onscreen company and a really
cool man versus witch concept to juggle.
